A Scenic Destination with a Strong Cultural Heritage

Nestled on the shores of Lake Siljan, Rättvik is a true gem that has attracted car enthusiasts and music lovers for generations. Known both in Sweden and internationally for its rich cultural traditions, Rättvik is a place where folk music, costumes, dances, stories, and culinary heritage have been passed down for centuries.

A Dynamic Business Community Driving Growth

Rättvik boasts a diverse business landscape, with tourism, retail, and food industries at its core. Complementing these are sectors such as construction and technology, which contribute to the municipality’s ongoing development. Strategic investments in youth and women’s entrepreneurship have delivered outstanding results, fostering innovation and inclusivity.

Leading the Way in Circular Food Innovation

Rättvik is home to a modern, nature-focused high school equipped with extensive arable land, advanced barns, ethical animal husbandry, greenhouses for innovation, and state-of-the-art machinery. Students from across Sweden come here to train in agriculture, animal care, and sustainable farming.

In 2022, the school transitioned to a green industry focus and established a regional competence center to strengthen expertise in sustainable food production. The municipality actively promotes testbeds and innovation in areas such as primary food production, processing, energy solutions, automation, and product development—through partnerships with academia and entrepreneurs.

A Tourism Destination with Deep Roots

Rättvik’s tourism legacy dates back to 1894, when Sweden’s first tourist hotel was built here, followed by a long pier serving steamboat traffic. Today, events like Classic Car Week, Sweden’s largest automotive nostalgia gathering, and the annual Rättvik Market attract tens of thousands of visitors. Folk music remains an integral part of local culture, with the renowned Bingsjöstämman festival offering an authentic experience of this tradition.

Dalhalla – A World-Class Cultural Venue

Rättvik’s cultural life is vibrant and diverse, highlighted by Dalhalla, a spectacular open-air arena set in a former limestone quarry. Recognized as one of Europe’s most majestic outdoor venues, Dalhalla offers exceptional acoustics and hosts world-class artists such as ZZ Top, Neil Young, and Arcade Fire. This unique setting has made Rättvik a global destination for music lovers.
